For attorneys

A confidential move, on your terms

Thinking about a move

Bound works with attorneys and legal professionals who want to move between US law firms of roughly 5 to 200 attorneys. You do not need to be actively looking, and you do not need to commit to anything to have a first conversation.

Bound represents you, not just your resume. It costs you nothing: the law firm pays, and only if it hires. Register confidentially when you are ready, or read how that works first.

What Bound does for you

Six things, none of which you pay for.

Market intelligence

What firms in your practice area and state are hiring for, and what they are paying.

Roles that are not advertised

Some searches are never posted. Bound tells you about the ones that match your practice.

Resume positioning

Bound helps you present your practice, your matters, and your business development so a hiring partner sees the fit quickly.

Interview preparation

Before each interview, Bound tells you what that firm is screening for.

Compensation negotiation

Bound handles the offer conversation, covering base salary, start date, and any counteroffer from your current firm.

Support after you start

Bound stays in touch through your first 90 days.

Confidentiality

For an attorney who is employed, this is the question that matters most. The answers are short.

  • Your resume is never sent to a firm without your express consent for that specific firm.
  • Your current firm is never contacted.
  • You always know which firms have seen your resume.

What Bound will ask you about

A first conversation covers these. Knowing them early is what lets Bound put you in front of the right partners and no one else.

  • Your practice focus, and the matters or deals that best represent your work.
  • Your class year, or years of experience.
  • Your billable expectation now, and what you would want at a new firm.
  • Your bar admissions, and any state you would move to where you are not yet admitted.
  • Where you want to work, and whether that means onsite, hybrid, or remote.
  • Your compensation goals.
  • What is actually driving the move.

Levels Bound works with

From paralegals and legal professionals to lateral partners.

Questions attorneys ask

Does this cost me anything?

No. The law firm pays Bound, and only if it hires. Registering, speaking with Bound, and preparing for interviews cost you nothing.

Will my resume ever be sent to a firm without my permission?

No. Your resume goes to a firm only after you approve that specific firm. Approval for one firm is not approval for another, and Bound never contacts your current firm.

How much experience do I need?

Bound recruits at every level, from paralegals and legal professionals to lateral partners. If you are not sure whether your experience fits, register or email and ask.

Do you work with attorneys who are not actively looking?

Yes. You do not need to be actively looking. A confidential conversation commits you to nothing, and nothing goes to any firm without your approval.

What if I am not admitted in the state I want to move to?

Tell Bound which states you are admitted in and where you want to work. Whether you can practice there depends on that state's rules, such as reciprocity or admission on motion, and Bound will point out what to check with the state bar.

Can you help with compensation negotiation?

Yes. Bound helps you compare offers and handles the offer conversation with the firm, covering base salary, start date, and any counteroffer from your current firm.

What happens after I accept an offer?

Bound stays in touch through your start date and your first 90 days.
